I’ve had 4 vehicles built at the factory and my buddy is a salesperson at a dealership. What say you
It has a whole lot more to do with when ordered than when goes to D1. Mine was in D1 2 days after order others take up to 4 weeks to hit D1. Factory has 45 days after order before you can escalate a case to rush. They try to ship them before that 45 day mark. Not always done… Sometimes sooner… It all depends on when in that 45 day window scheduling wants the build to take place. They can D1 you on day 40 and still ship on day 45. Or they build them early in that window to have available for a later scheduled ship date. It would be much more appropriate to say that it generally takes 6-8 weeks. Just saying.

Mine and many others it has been 6 weeks or more since D1. Looking like I may take delivery next week. Not holding my breath. Not just judging my experience but by most on this forum. I’m not at all saying that you can’t get one within 2-3 weeks of D1. I’m saying that time from D1 is not the way to measure the time, but from order date. How long did yours take from order to delivery????

Someone just posted in the tracking thread they ordered the n Oct 5th and it’s still at the body vendor. How is that even possible what option would cause such a delay? I know I’ve seen some long build times but holy cow…

I don’t know. I don’t think that it is a supply issue. I think that it was a defective unit they are trying to find a fix for. I am a professional driver in the supply chain for Subaru so I have a inside prospective on how parts are acquired. It is not FCA but things work much the same through the industry. Components are sourced through smaller companies all over the globe. The manufacturer contracts the suppliers to be able to deliver on time. The shippers as well. Yes Subaru has part shortage from time to time but it is never more than 1-3 days because they have very steep penalties written into the contracts. We are talking tens of thousands of dollars for every hour without components the critical components have a steeper penalty than optional equipment that could still be $10,000 an hour yes an hour. I pick up up brake rotors at a supplier and he told me they have to pay Nissan $28,000 every hour they don’t have parts. The suppliers will do anything to make sure the parts get through I mean get an expediter to hand deliver to the airport to put on a plane. Heads ROLL if they don’t deliver. Their whole company hinges on them being able to deliver on time or they go under. Most of the time when there is a shortage it is from an overseas manufacture because of shipping problems and mostly electronics my JT has every electronic option available and it got built in a week so it’s not that. The Subaru plant in Lafayette, IN does have a very large lot with cars that didn’t pass quality inspection and have to be repaired by a team of technicians one by one. I am just guessing but I think it may be a defective unit.
