Key Fob Issues

I've had issues with my key fob on and off since I got the JT but it's pretty rare when it does happen. I left the keys in the JT by accident last night because my jeep was sliding little on my hill gravel driveway so I parked it next door at the neighbors. Of course I couldn't get it to start and felt like an idiot and had to go back to the house to get the spare. I don't think it's the battery because it happened a few times shortly after I bought my JT in 2020. Should I just swap out the batteries anyway or is there a known issue with these things that I should notify my dealer about? Thanks

Does it start with the backup method of pushing the nose of the FOB on the start button? If so, I would be looking at a possible battery issue but could still be a FOB issue.

Does not start, then definitely a FOB issue with possibly a bad transponder chip.

I have a sport with manual doors and locks so I don't have any light indicators on the key fob itself. I'll def try that trick next time though. Thanks

Make sure the key is not in the same pocket as your phone. That's been an issue on every rfid key vehicle I've owned, so worth a try. It's an interference issue I've noticed across models, but that none of the owners manuals seem to mention. Phone in one pocket, keys in the other.

I never keep my keys in my pocket. I always attach them to my work bag and put it behind my back seat and then I take it on my bus the rest of the day and then visa versa when I go home. This particular time I left the keys on the front passenger seat by accident and forgot them overnight and then when I tried to start it I had no luck until I got the spare. A neighbor had a new power wagon maybe 15 feet from me. It did
happen once at a gas station so now I'm thinking maybe it is some kind of interference.
