Hey all,

I have a new 23 Mojave 8 speed auto that just hit 7,000 miles. A couple months ago the cel came on and the code was knock sensor p0330. I took it to my local dealership and they replaced both knock sensors, and wire harness. I drove it for about a month and boom the cel comes back on with the same code. I’m bringing it back to the dealership again as it’s still under warranty but does anyone here have any insight on why the heck this is happening to a brand new vehicle? The light will come on and then go off and I’ve noticed that when the cel is on it doesn’t shift as smoothly as when the cel is off.

thanks

Knock sensors convert pre-ignition spark vibrations into a small AC wave signal that the PCM interprets for spark advance or retard for timing. If the signal drops off or out of expected range, will give the CEL code. The engine PCM will probably have a default strategy for the lack of or out of range knock sensor signal and hence the rough idling and transmission shift issues.

It is pretty much a very simple two wire circuit. Will either be the knock sensor, wiring harness or the PCM. See the attached wiring diagram. I bet they only changed the harness from the sensor side to the XY220A. That leaves the harness side from XY220A to the PCM or possibly the PCM itself as suspect.

If they really were diagnosticians, and not just part changing monkey's, they should be scoping the connection point at the PCM and tapping the engine to see if the knock sensor is sending a signal and making it to the PCM.

You ever get this sorted out? My 23 mojave was throwing a p0330 code, dealer put in new knock sensor, now it's immediately happening again 🤦‍♂️, p0330 code. No noticeable problems while driving though

Hi, I'm new to the gladiator forum I'm having the exact same issues with the exact same year at a similar mileage, but it's a Rubicon. Mines code P0325 knock sensor 1 bank 1.
I really don't want to take it to the dealer if I can at least diagnose it myself. Did you have any luck with this or it has the problem continued? Thank you for your help in advance!

Hey,

After my original post of them replacing the knock sensors and wire harness. They replaced the PCM. That fixed it for a few weeks before the same code came back again. This last time they replaced the entire Engine harness. It’s been close to if not a month now with no issues. It’s handling, shifting and accelerating like one would expect

if you have the ability to change the entire engine harness that’s what I would try.

Thanks and good luck
