Trying to decide between the KO3 & Ridge Grappler for my Mojave. Current tires are the stock Falken Mts. I mostly do lighter trails. Sizes I’m thinking about are 295/70/17, 305/70/17 & 315/7017. 🍻

Do you need the e load? Both are great options but the 315/70/17 is available in a KO2 in c load which would save you some weight.

I do not need a E rating.

Never mind, the KO3 is F rated in 315. No thanks.
Is it really? Maybe I read wrong. I was looking the other day and I swear it was E. I was debating on 35s or 37s and for now the 35s made more sense. Even better as I had a brand new one from my wife JLU spare so I only had to buy 3.

Not to muddy the waters more 😉 but this looks like a hell of a deal for C rated 315’s. That’s what comes on the Bronco Sasquatch

They are a good price point but they don’t wear great(at least on the newer silverados that come with them). I work for a gm dealer and we get a lot of complaints about them and the duratracs. I believe a lot of it is because people only have them rotated every 10k when their oil change is “due”.

I’m running the new G3’s in E load on a stock rubicon size and I love them. Weigh less than the stock ATW3’s. Quieter and a bit better in the rain. Just food for thought

After my last experience with Nitto I would choose KO3.
But I recommend Falken R/T. Best all around tire I’ve ever had. 35x11.50 C rated
Second his feelings on Nitto. I'll be doing something different next time around.

Not a fan of ko2 or ko3. Probably the most consistent tires to have out of round or balancing issues.

If not doing allot of snow or Ice, the Ridge Grappler is the best tire I have sold for being smooth, long life and looking great.

If mixing in ice and snow I would go with the Toyo AT3.

(my 2 cents from the West Coast)

The Ridge Grappler looks much better if you care about looks. It has been a decent tire for me but its traction off the line when it’s wet out honestly isn’t fantastic. I have to feather the throttle a bit in those circumstances. It’s heavy too.

The Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T seems to be one of the favorites mentioned on this site but haven’t had experience with it. I think the Ridge Grappler still looks more aggressive.

I’m no expert, but I doubt Costco would sell BFG KO tires if they were a problem to balance. That’s where I’ve bought tires for over 10 years. Always BFG. I’ve never had a problem with BFG. The only tire I had bad luck with is Firestone.

I'm in the tire business. All brands have bad tires that slip through quality control. BFG ko2 is one of the worst from major brands. We sell a ton of them, especially to Toyota customers. Take a look at them next time you go to a tire shop. You will find brand new tires that have been shaved from BFG to help round them out.

I’ll be honest I had 37s to go on my jeep, KO2s and the very first one needed 21 oz, rotated it 180 degrees and it wanted 19 oz. Dismounted flipped over and turned 90 degrees and it was back to 21 oz. Put my old 315 ko2 on and it only needed 1.5 oz. Sent them back and ordered 4 315s. Could it have been just one, sure but it left a bad taste, made my decision to stay on 35’s easier too.

edit we also tried road force to no avail.

I stand corrected.
