I know this seems totally against what everyone does with a Jeep but has anyone put on larger highway tires on their JT...like rubicon size 285/70/17 but a highway tire? I do zero offroading and the Willys Firestone M/T are so loud on the highway. I'm not looking for A/T recommendations as I've searched enough and have select brands I usually go with.

I drove a Willys when I first was shopping for aGladiator and the tires were HORRIBLE.

I got a Mojave with Falken Wildpeak ATs and they were very quiet for an off road tire. MUCH MUCH quieter than the mudders that come on a Willys.

I've since picked up a set of take-off Wrangler Xtreme Recon 35" wheels and tires. These have BFG K02 tires. These AT tires are equally quiet as the Falkens.

But with all that said. If you want the ultimate in quiet and comfort, real "car" tires like those I listed above will be superior.

I appreciate the help. I think I'll just end up with a good AT tire as everyone else does. I don't mind the ride with the MTs that came with it but they are loud as hell. To a point where I can't even make a phone call or enjoy a decent drive

I had defender ltx ms in 255/75/17 and they we’re okay. I ended up taking them off and putting them on my wifes jlu. Considered getting another set but glad i didnt.

I recently put on firestone destination at 2 sized 255/75/17 and though they say “at” and look nice they’re DEFINITELY more of a highway tire. I get the same mpg with them as i did with my stock dueler at tires (also at in name only) and the shift points are the same..just quiet as stock.

I have the Goodyear Fortitude HT tires on my Durango. They ride nice and are great in the rain and snow. I have about 15k miles on them and they are wearing well. I rotate with each oil change about 5k miles. 265/60R18

I saw a JLR with Michelin Defender LTX last weekend. I had to do a double take, as everything else looked Rubicon with the exception of the tires.

I had those tires on my last truck. They wear well, are relatively quiet, but I remember them riding a tad firm. Nothing like an A/T though. I don’t recall what the load rating was.

You may like the Cooper Discoverer AT 4S, which is an AT with more of a street orientation. More siping for rain and ice than their LT version, for example. I have the LT which is a bit more offroad-ish, but still has excellent traction in rain. The road noise is quieter than the wind noise.

Look for a set of take-offs from an Overland. That will give you a good set of highway tires. You may be able to pickup a mounted set for less than the cost of four new tires.

OP, I had the exact same experience as you, loved the Willys package, loved the look of the OEM MT tire, but hated it on the road (99% of my miles). No way I could live with that, pulled them off at 1K, sold on FB in a day, replaced them with BFG KO2's, 285/70/17 (33" - up 1" from stock MT's) which I absolutely LOVE! They not only look great and proper on the Jeep, but they are very quiet and handle great. By far the best upgrade I've done so far.

Thank you for the reply. I had BFGs and Wildpeaks on previous vehicles and had good luck. I think I'll just switch over to ATs to keep the rugged look and still reduce the cabin noise.

I have the XLT version of this tire on my Ram 2500 in load range E, which you do not want. I found the tire to be very quiet and excellent in water. Cheers.

I have Pirelli Scorpion ATR on one of our jeeps and they have been great for exactly what you’re looking for. Also had a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk with the stock wheels that had a slightly more aggressive look but rode great on the HWY. I think those were the BFG AT
