Has anyone negotiated 35s or larger in with their deal from dealer? I'm wondering if this could possibly be cheaper than trying to sell factory rubicon tires and purchase the same tire in a 35in size.
Nothing is ever cheaper at the dealer. I found the best deal for 37s KO2s I could find, with rebates and all...then asked Discount Tire to match it....which they did. Then sold my OEM tires for 500, which was a little low given the amount of hits I got. Tires were like 1800 installed, less 500 sold...about 1400 out of pocket. Probably could have gotten closer to 1200-1300 out of pocket if I cared to wait the sale out.
Shop around for the best price on tires, buy them, then sell your take offs. I found a set of Ridge Grapplers for $1200, then sold my stock tires and wheels for $850. That $850 covered the cost of my new wheels and lift, so I’ve only got $1200 in all the upgrades.
I asked the dealer for a quote for the 2" Mopar lift, and wheels and 35's. I asked if I could trade in my stock wheels once my Gladiator arrives, and they told me that I would have to sell the stock wheels and tires on my own. Not really the answer I was looking for, but oh well.
I ordered my tires from Discount Tire Direct and had them shipped to the dealer. Dealer price matched the best deal I could find on the Mopar lift then negotiated a price of $550 for the lift kit install and $50 to mount my new tires. I brought the tires home and put them on Craigslist and sold them for $625 for all five of them. Which, as stated above, was probably too low because I had a line around the block wanting to get them if they first guy backed out.
