This is lingering from the ~2014 round of enforcement in the wake of the VW dieselgate fiasco. The justice system moves slow. So while not specifically related to the 3rd gen ecodiesel - generally the OEMs have lost their appetite for small diesel vehicles in the US, so as far as the thread title it’s probably not wrong

Old news - the crimes predate Stellantis if it's the stuff I am thinking of. Just now being dealt with. It was under FCA before Stellantis. It will have zero impact on the diesel.

All this happened years ago and it's just being caught up with in the justice system and just now being reported. These things are so far behind.

Diesel isn't going away - keep the EU in mind.
It's electric that will be THE death knell (because there can only be one announcement of a death - you only die once. So really these are straws, Knell is the bell that announces a death. Nitpicking, yeah, for sure. )

Spent a couple weeks in Canada recently... I was surprised by all the EcoDiesel vehicles up there. It also helps that their gas stations have diesel at nearly every pump unlike the crap we have here in the states.. 1 pump in the middle and usually blocked by a car.

I also thought it was interesting that their diesel was labeled "efficient"... after googling that, maybe I always filled up at Esso stations cause that seems to be their trademark. I think the mindset is different between the US and Canada as far as diesel and that is why it is a hard sell in the states for a light duty diesel.
