I’ll start by reminding anyone reading that I’m coming off the tail end of an FCA buy back of my previous 2021 Sport S. I was plagued by electrical issues the local dealership couldn’t seem to resolve. I loved the truck, so I bought another Gladiator, however I’m gun shy at any little weird thing it does now. The warning chimes give me PTSD.

About 2000 miles into the new truck and I’m getting a more frequently occurring brake warning. After starting and driving, the first time I step hard on the brake to park, not just normal driving, I get the BRAKE and ABS light flashing at me momentarily and lose some brake pressure. After I release and press again it’s gone and back to normal for the rest of the trip, sometimes okay for a few days. No visible signs of brake fluid leakage, the master brake reservoir is full. I bought it out of state, and will be making a dealership appointment to have it checked out. No mods other than new wheels and a Tazer to change tire size. I’d love to hear some idea of something I might be missing before I freak out.

I'm in the middle of the lemon process myself.

I would hazard a guess that there's air in the line somewhere.

I had something similar happen after I changed my brake lines on my JK. I found that I had let air into my ABS system somehow. I used a programmer to run an ABS system bleed and it was fixed.

Don't tell me you can use the ABS pump to bleed the brakes??!!

That's easy if you have the tool. Gone are the days of cracking the caliper drain bolt while a helper presses the pedal? Or using a Migh-T-Vac to pull fluid through. ??

I had the same issue on a Ram. It did turn out that air was introduced to the system. Once bled, had no issues for 150k miles.

Yes, I used my old Superchips programmer to run the ABS pump to empty the system of air, along with a Motive power bleeder. I did it twice to assure it was clear of air. Worked great!

The abs pump cycle runs to bleed the abs pump, not the whole system.

you don’t need a computer to do this. Bleed brakes, go find a gravel road parking lot etc, brake hard several times on it to kick on abs. Return home bleed brakes again…..done

Thats interesting. When I used to do track days with my STi I would beed the brakes after the day. All kinds of nasty black fluid would come out. I used a MityVac and have for years. It would be pretty cool if you could just crack the nut with a hose on it and run the abs to bleed a corner.
