Haha yep! I went and bought a damn $200 Milwaukee torque wrench to assist versus my Milwaukee impact driver wouldn’t loosen the bolts. It wouldn’t do it either! I was so pissed ? Oddly enough my measurements still don’t match. My level says the hood is now level but I have 47 5/16 (passenger) and 47 7/16 (driver) but it was 47 3/4 before so it did improve a good amount. I just left it loose and went to make dinner, I’ll tighten it up tomorrow. Thanks for all your help.
I used my Milwaukee M18 mid torque to loosen mine With no issues. You could try a high output battery next time (if you didn’t) or make sure you are using impact sockets...not regular chrome. Believe it or not, It actually makes a difference. I could see the smaller m12 stubby having a bit of trouble, but anything bigger should do it.

Agreed. I use the little m12 to socket wrench to snug up projects before torquing down, but never for loosening. My m18 works really well with either the 9 or 12 amp battery. Those batteries are expensive, but are amazing. My 12amp with the m18 compressor will air up my 37’s three times on one charge.

You should never be pissed about buying a Milwaukee tool. I have so many. Several were purchased in one off situations like this. :) let us know what the ultimate solution is. Seems like this would have done it.
That’s all I have lol. I’m an electrician so I now have the wrench, impact, hammer drill, band saw, blower, M12 lights. I have so many batteries so I keep buying Milwaukee.

Looks good to me...glad that helped out! Bounce the Jeep up and down a bit (while standing on the bumper) and try to help it settle, prior to tightening to torque spec....might help resolve the tiny bit of variance left between the two sides.
I’ll try the bumper. I was bouncing inside the driver door because I could hold on there.

Yup, I have been happy with all my Milwaukee stuff. The M12 stubby has its uses, but I use my M18 mid torque 99 percent of the time. It’s a great mix of prety good power and compact size. I think even the 3.0 high output battery does a pretty good job power wise, but can’t beat the larger batteries for runtime and power on bigger jobs. When all else fails...high torque to the rescue.

Impact sockets make a difference? Hmm. That I wasn’t aware of. My neighbor has some deep sockets but they’re 1/2” drive and Home Depot only had the 3/8” drive in stock and no adapters from 3/8 to 1/2” so I tried my regular sockets. The battery might be it, the directions are bullshit. It says up to 250ft lbs but its dependent on battery, doesn’t tell you which battery. It was XC 5.0 though fully charged.

Me too, all of those, plus many across m28, m18, and m12. I like that m18 blower for small jobs. I use it to blow snow off the cars in the winter. Little m12 bandsaw is one of my favorites. Clean and controlled and I don’t need to wheel out the big Wellsaw. I’m sure I’m missing some but here goes. 5 or six drills, two sawzalls, bandsaw, circular saw, hole hawg, rotary hammer, rotary sander, nail gun, blower, m12 and m18 compressors, angle grinder, m18 impact, m18 shop vac. I’m sure I’m missing some. Need more coffee.

Yeah you got me beat lol. I think you guys are right about the battery. I needed either a large battery or a HO. I could have just probably bought a new battery and used my impact driver with an attachment. ??‍♂ I just thought it wasn’t strong enough.

That’s happened to me. The only really big batteries I have are the 9 and 12 HO. I bought the shop vac years ago and the 5amp batteries lasted only a few minutes. The 9amp ho now lives in it. I charge it about once a month. Game changer.

Good to know. I might just see if I can return the wrench as my impact driver is essentially the same thing. I’d rather just spend $100 on a new battery if that’s the only reason my impact didn’t work.

Does this make me officially a car/Jeep guy? Adjusting the wrench on the nut to a spot it would use it’s own leverage so I could tighten the lower arms. I pushed down 1 handed on the torque wrench to see if it would catch and the torque wrench flew off and smashed right into my face. Oww. ??? It’s hilarious but it doesn’t feel good. Going to to tell my co-workers my wife punched me.

I would say return the m12 stubby and put the money towards an M18 mid torque. I have both and rarely ever use the stubby. The M18 mid torque is my go to impact.

I did get the M18. I have the impact driver for work but it’s 1/4” drive. I couldn’t get it to break stuff loose so I thought it just wasn’t the right tool. But this didn’t do it either, but like you said i wasn’t using anything impact rated.

That’s the M18 stubby, which has the same rating at the M12..I believe 250 ft lbs.

The M18 Mid Torque is a different impact and has more than double the torque at 650 ft lbs. Its still pretty compact.

Gotcha! This is the one I was after but they were sold out. I had 1/2” deep, impact sockets I wanted to use.
