We originally went the route of purchasing the door hinge pins to make door removal/installation easier:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KYKWDGL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but we found the top screw, if I recall, did not screw on all the way and cover the threads.

We don't dislike the idea of having to remove the bolts every time, but we also want to save our paint so we found that using rubber jar openers that we picked up from realtors when we were house hunting in NC work perfectly! They take up so little space, are safe on the paint and provide a large enough area of protection when removing each bolt. I don't have a picture of the one we use so I am attaching a Google image so you get the idea. Just lay flat on the vehicle while you remove each bolt. My guess is most households already have one or more available already as they are always given out as swag at nearly any kind of public event. Hope it works for you!

I'm still very new to Jeeps - what do the hinge pins do exactly? Do they make it so there are no bolts to remove to get your doors off??

No bolts to remove and some individuals feel like the additional length they provide serve as a good guide when installing the doors. I, personally, don't find them helpful with the latter at all. The doors on the JT are much lighter than previous Wrangler models so a little patience and you won't scratch anything.

I don't even know where the bolts to either of my Jeep doors are and I never use guides or whatever...just aim and drop. The new doors are so light that its not hard at all. My JKUR fronts tho? Yeah...timers ticking standing there with those tanks, lol

If grip/comfort is an issue then one of these works great, I added felt to the bottom.

I remove the bolts and leave them out. The JT doors are super light and easy to pop out. I was prepared for JK doors like blk hole said.

So, I guess the theory is that the door pins won't rust if you buy the above item? Just something to cover them up with?

That’sa good idea! I have been using the laminated instruction card from inside the toolkit. I was wondering what everyone else did.
