Looking for a tailgate extender while I'm hauling motorcycles. Big downside to leaving tailgate down on all of my trucks is the ease of stealing a tailgate - takes less than 15 seconds. Anyone aware of a tailgate extender that when flipped out latches into the tailgate latches? Would essentially allow locking the bed extender into the tailgate latches, preventing tailgate and extender theft. Thx

Most of the bed extenders I have encountered do have tabs that lock into the tailgate latches (eg the Amp Research version) however they are usually connected with elastic bands that could easily be cut and allow for removal of the extender. If theft is a concern you might have to rig something where those are replaced with some type of braided cable or something.

Manufacuturer of SpecGate, the Modular Tailgate Platform.
Our BaseGate allows for a locking L-Track insert to be installed, which can then be secured to the D-Ring at the rear of the bed. I'd not thought of this type of application, to be honest!

Now your tailgate is locked to the truck itself...

And you can secure your ramps to the truck with the CargoBuckle to make that process safer and more secure:

The cable is a great idea. I have a Black Widow arm supports from a Ford pickup I used to have that would lock into the bed latches. May be able to fab some rods that slide through holes in the bed extender as well. I'll probably need to go with a bed extender that is more squared off in shape to give me enough room to get around 3 motorcycle rear tires.
