Looking to step up to 4.88 gears. Called 2 places, first was in Des Moines and it was over 4k, Other was in Dubuque and it was just under 4k. This seems very high, anyone in Iowa or surrounding areas have this done for a fair price?

Zues Offroad in the Minneapolis area came highly recommended when I was looking. They quoted me around $3200 about a year ago for 5.29's in a Tacoma. Tacomas are drop in 3rd members and housings though, so not quite as much involved, so might be a little more labor involved with a Jeep.

I feel like in the Midwest we have to pay double for a gear swap compared to quotes I have heard on here from places like California/ Utah. Doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe just not much of a market for such services here compared to those places. I have been happy with my 3.73s in my gasser on 37s but every once in a while I get an itch to gear swap and then the quote I get of around $4k eliminates that itch. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for me at that point.

Agree! I should have done it last year when I was living in Florida, I just did not expect the huge jump in price!
