So this weekend I'm trying to install a homebrew trailcam of sorts. I went with this camera as opposed to the ZAutomotive thinking I can position it better to not have so much of the grill slat in view. I was also able to source all the parts for about $100 cheaper.

Anyway, with a quick test fit there shouldn't be any issues securing it to the grill using a large washer on the inner side of the grill. For the sake of making sure it isn't going anywhere I could also use one on the outer side of the grill as well, but I think that would look bad.

I'm thinking I could get a clean looking install if I could fine some kind of epoxy/putty that I can fill the grill hole with and then pop it out to cure before drilling a hole through it and then popping it back in to plug the grill hole for camera install. Can anyone think of a specific product that I should use? I guess I'm looking for something that won't bond to the plastic so I'm able to cleanly pop it out before it cures. I'm not looking

Pool leak epoxy. It is like a clay that mix together and then it gets hard. Not sure if they make different colors but that was the first thing that came to mind. Really the way to go would be to make that then make a mold of that then pour some black epoxy to make your final piece. This all seems like a lot of work though now that I’m typing it out. Find a friend with a 3d printer

Make a model out of clay, then use the Qlone 3D Scanner app to generate the printer files. Or Qlone can make the piece.

This.

Then duplicate the part and sell kits for cheaper than zatomotive!

Huh. Turns out replacement honeycomb grille inserts are only about $25. Suppose I'll go for a more permanent option if a better solution doesn't get posted. 3D printing is not an option.

Actually, thanks for pointing me in that direction! That led me to eBay where I found these.

I’ve messaged the seller to see if he will sell me one individually.
I can send you one, I am not using them anymore. Just pm me your address and I will send it to you. Here is a picture they have a hole through from the light I had used.

Appreciate the offer but I already picked the one up from eBay. Can't wait to get this project underway.
