That's not even that part that gets attention.... We broke down in TN, and were rescued by a guy named (for real) Tennessee Jed, and a professional Santa Claus. Rescue involved driving my wife and I to go pick up a replacement engine, and then swapping it in a hotel parking lot a la Roadkill. We lived the Roadkill life long before Roadkill existed.Thats so rad! I did something similar with a few friends on the Harleys, once upon a time. I love the idea of doing it in a VW. I love going on a trip, but when there is too much structure, too much of a timeline, too much of a plan, it loses a lot of the sense of "Freedom" you get from the trip. Sometimes, just wandering is best.
