Looking for step options on our '26 Mojave.

Hi,

My wife and I could use some direction. We have factory rock rails on our two week old Mojave. We have a 2013 Wrangler 2DR with factory running boards, and with 2 1/2 inches of lift and 35" tires we can get in easily to that. Our Gladiator not so much. We did not realize how much the running boards on the Wrangler helped out.

We bought the Mojave to take out West and run some of the (less rock crawler'ish) trails like you see on Trail Recon. We would like to put 35"s and a 2" spacer lift on it too. I called around to get pricing on Rock Sliders with the power step and really don't want to spend $3500 on a set of those.

We want something tough enough to protect the side of the Gladiator and be able to step on it (or them) to get in or out.

Any suggestions?

I got rid of my OEM rockrails because the wife could not get in comfortably and got the old OEM step rails...that frankly look OK but are not much better and would be sacrificial in Moab.

Now I wished I'd waited. NXTgen has EASILY removable ones that actually look good ON the OEM rails. They are designed for daily driver use but come off quickly if you want to go places... AND, pretty inexpensive, like 375 for two or 650 for four. Looks like they are out of stock now but I guess they refill fast, put your name on a list?

Frankly, most steps at the base of the doors are pretty worthless for me. If you step on them, then you are looking across the roof and kind of climbing down into the cab... These look lower better for getting in. The drop downs like AEV or Rough Country (1/3 cost) are your other choice but not great for hard core off roading. I actually have the AEV's on my 2022 Ram 2500 and they have been probably the best aftermarket item on the truck never once acted up in any way...carry a five year warranty.

I agree the NXT gen attachments ,attach pretty easily to the rock rails and totally improve the exit and entree,definitely recommend.

I’ll have to plug the nxtgen Crossterrain steps. Not many here are off road as much as me and they have never interfered with anything. And, they are holding up pretty well considering I do 10 water fords per day in an out of my ranch.

I do recommend pairs on each side for visual balance. I’d love to have an extra set for the rear, maybe one day.

Their oh-chit handles are dang good too !

I agree, these are great. My under 5' wife had trouble getting in until I installed these. They are easy to install and easy to remove to go wheeling.

Nxtgen should also consider rail mounted mud flaps

The Attica 4x4 Terra Rock Sliders provide protection and have a step up. Steel construction, frame mounted, no need to keep the rock rails.

I will looking at these myself , great reviews and sturdy! I however will probably not take my Gladiator on much rock crawling excursions but rather the beach and trails . I’ll probably remove mine for some type of running board with steps. A little elbow grease and and im good to go

The MORE retractable step works pretty well, I had to modify mine to fit with the RC sliders and only have it on the passenger side. Easily removable for rocky trails.

Here is my write up
for the M.O.R.E. Hide-a-Step.

Pricey but if only one step is needed
for one's better half, worth considering.

Rock crawlers can pull a couple of pins
and remove the step from harm's way.

Ultimately, because I do no rock crawling,
this short, fat old man bought Tyger steps.
A complete set cost only slightly more
than a single Hide-a-Step
but you lose the factory Rock Rails.

LOD destroyer. Just the right height for 35s and 2 inch lift. Wide enough to keep sides clean. Also provides good steps to reach windshield and rear windows for cleaning. I've had the factory rock rails, Overland steps, and Mopar performance rock rails. These have been the best so far. These are slightly curved, so they do a nice job following the body contour. They attach to the frame and not the body pinch seam. Excellent paint/coating- not a single spec of rust after 3 years.

I have owned AMP Research, they are very good and very expensive. I currently have the Rough Country on my 2023 Mojave (Over a year) and they work just fine for way less money.

I have Ironman slider steps on my 2024.
I see they still haven’t updated their website. The steps are listed as fitting up to 2022. I took a chance and ordered them (they were ON SALE!!) for my 2024. They bolted up without any issues. I emailed them w/photos to tell them they fit 2024, but I see…that didn’t matter.

They weren’t called ‘Raid’ when I ordered them, but they’re on sale for $299 right now. Holy shit… That‘s cheap!!!
