Modifying OEM bumper to a stubby?

Has anyone attempted to modify the OEM plastic bumper into a stubby like the Rubicon steel bumper converts into? I am not even sure if its a possibility but wanted to see if anyone just modified the included front bumper.

Sawzall is all it takes.

In my case the ends were bent up just enough to interfere with the 35x12.5. I have a spare bumper with some shorty up swept ends to put on when I get the chance.

And before you dogs start barking, I know it's a jk not a jl/jt but ultimatly this is the goal right? Closing the ends is really the trick unless you are okay with the feral ute look.
