Mopar soft rolling tonneau cover strap replacement

This seems to be a pretty common problem for gladiators with the mopar roll up tonneau cover. The straps they used literally disintegrate into a fine powder. I am going to have to make new straps as well. I am also looking for a way to lock it closed when i lock the tailgate. might have to do the carabiner chain/cable/strap to the tie down or something i guess. that is the only real thing that bugs me about this cover is anyone can just walk up to it and open it.

Yeah it drove me nuts - I got this one CROOKED.
Oh, well, will be starting clean on this 2025 when I do this.....these pics show my 2022

That's really clean looking. Do you have a parts list for that? I would do that mod in a heartbeat.

If you were close, I'd say come on over and we'd do both yours and mine.
I have the pair I took off my 2022 when I traded it in, they'll go on my 25.

I'll have to check to see what size rivnuts I used and the screws, but this is the latch ->

I cut the "loop" so that it had a bit of a J left to slip over the tonneau cover bar.

Due to the bed liner, after I drilled the holes needed, I used another bit ground a bit more flat to BY HAND, trim out the bed liner so the rivnut sat against the bed metal and not on the surface of the spray-on bed liner. ]

I love this, that is really clean. As much as I hate drilling into vehicles. This is probably the best solution i have seen so far for this.
