Just got to our destination with travel trailer in tow. I noticed that after I unhitched, that the red light (the one that illuminates the sensitivity) is still on as is the backlight of for the button. Ignition is off doors locked and it still has power.

When unhitched, I remember it coming on with the ignition but turning off if not connected to a trailer.

I unplugged the controller and will reattach in the AM but this is odd.

Any thoughts?

So…. After leaving the brake controller unplugged for the day. I plugged it back in…. No light on startup had me shook. After connecting the trailer it came to life again. I rolled forward a bit and engaged trailer brakes and the trailers brakes engaged. Whew!

Also, upon turning off the ignition the switch is NOT illuminated. So my unofficial reset appears to have done the trick.

Out of curiosity I used the Tazer to check for any codes and got the following:

BCM U1514-87
PTS U0415-00

Based on quick searches here and on the JL forum it appears nothing to be too concerned about given the CEL is not on.

Anyways… Thankful I don’t have to deal with any repairs over the holiday weekend while away from home.

Until next time.
