BLUF: Locker warning lights came on in 2H, did not come on the next 3 days, lift installed and they came on and would not shut off. Dealer had for 3 days, $800 for front and rear locker pigtails and installation, not covered by warranty. Told them no, truck is home, have not tried to engage lockers, warning lights are still on.

Last week I was in 2H on the highway and my axle locker light in the dash came on...lockers did not engage. I got home and before I shut it off I checked my off road display and it should both axles were locked. When I started the truck the next morning, none of the warnings came on so I thought I was good to go. Four days later I had a 4" lift installed, and after install the lights came on again and stayed on, so I took it the dealer I bought it from. The dealership had it for three days only to tell me that "pins pulled out of connector due to oversized lift and wires not being extended." Total repair is $800 and not covered by warranty. I was also told that since I did not contact them the first time it happened, I am SOL. I contacted JeepCares before I even took it to the dealer because they gave me pushback on the steering box TSB.

Has anyone else been told this is the fix for this issue? Anyone had to extend their locker wires?

There's a thread or two on here about this locker light issue, but I don't think they include coming on after a truck gets a lift. Mine came on after we towed our travel trailer during Thanksgiving. Started with the blinking light then the service light stayed on. Long story short, the dealership's fix for my gladiator was to replace the whole rear axle, housing assembly, & differential fluid. Got the truck back a few days ago with no blinking lights or warnings. The invoice for the fix ended up being around $2300, but warranty covered it.

If I remember correctly, the issue happens during somewhat long trips or while towing when the gears turn for longer/faster periods. This heats up the oils & lubricants around the gears which thins them out. Sometimes, the thinned out oils/lubricants can then seep through crevices. Because of that, a sensor got tripped & tricked the jeeps computer into thinking that the rear differential was unlocked.

We will be taking the trailer on a shorter trip this weekend, so we shall see if it comes back on.

This is what deters me from ever lifting my Jeeps.

Maybe another dealer can help unless they flagged you in the system
