What fixes have you all used for this problem?
Rear locker service light flashing on my dash. I've seen the bypass kit but has anyone repaired using mopar parts? The locker still works.

Thank you

The problem with just switching the harness and bypassing the sensor and magnet is….you still have a magnet sitting under the sensor. The magnet is your friend because it is gathering up all the scratchy iron fillings that like to wear things out and as a magnet collects this destructive debris, the filings pack in until there is no more magnetic attraction and the fillings will just pass on by to get chewed up by the gears and bearings and such, maybe even wear into seals (speculating here). So you can’t ignore the sensor magnet. You must continue to get inside and keep it clean.

Good point but mine has been fine for three years so we’ll see. I have extended warranty.
I’m not sure if you’re one to crack open your diffs to clean them out (gasket is reusable) but would be interesting to see.

If you’ve ever seen the mound of filings and metal goop on your drain plug, the sensor magnet would look the same. The lockers don’t have to be used for the magnet to collect filings.

If you do it yourself, while you have the sensor out check to make sure it does not have oil in it. Removing the metal from the magnet did not solve the problem.

Mine had oil in it that was causing the failure. Had to follow the potting thread to drill the three holes, which allowed me to drain and clean the sensor. Once the sensor was cleaned it worked and I filled with potting compound.

I've been running the Zlocker bypass for several years. I've had no further problems (knock on wood).
