Mouse ate heat wrap on my eco diesel - trying to figure out where it came from

Luckily, we caught him before he got too far, but a damn mouse ?made a nice little nest on top of the engine cover with some of the heat wrap from the driver side.

Took off the intake and having a hard time figuring out exactly where it was from. Does anyone have intimate knowledge of the engine compartment that can help me out?

Little bastard even chewed on the oil cap.

That’s on passenger side though and it looks fully intact—at least from what we can tell. Starting to think maybe it came from somewhere else that we cannot see or access, maybe down lower. Sort of at a loss…

So upon further inspection, and after looking at some engine compartment, pics of Eco diesel, JL’s, it looks like there may be some heat wrap material behind the EGR tube. Does anyone know if there’s anything in this area in their diesels behind the rubber cover? If there is, it should be visible, without taking off the engine cover or the rubber cover over the EGR tube

As you can see from the second photo, the wrap is fully intact around the EGR tube.
