Looks like were both in Idaho too, which part of the state are you in. That gash happened at Robie Creek a couple weeks ago just simply driving out to a group where a stock rig could of gone. Nothing crazy at all. The other damage to the tread I can completely pass off as spinning tires too much on the rocks south of Melba, but these are definitely not holding up to even the reasonably low price I paid (245 per tire at the time from Northridge).

Interesting that you talk about the ridge grapplers in cold temps. I will have to take that into account. Honestly with the wheels I have I may have to go with a -offset wheel for any of the other options. Which is something I am tempted to do anyway with the Icon Rebound Pro's now being out.

And all the tires I listed showed that they were avail within a week or so at discounttire.
I am up in the C'dA area. Hopefully we will get down towards for some Boise area wheeling in the next year.

It is a curious failure. Might be worth the due diligence to Milestar. On the other hand, it could just continue the frustration.

My experience with the Ridge Grapplers could be a one-off on that specific vehicle. There are people up here running them, but other tires seem to out-traction them in deep snow including the KO2. But the 38x12.50r17 is an attractive size on the Gladiator. Then add the lighter weight unheard of on a NItto, makes them cooler. But then.. the wallet.

I run non-beadlock wheels with good success. The Rebound Pro is sexy. Doesn't the Borah convert back to a non-beadlock? Here is a pic of a black Rebound on my JKU.

I very seriously doubt milestar does anything.. And honestly I wouldnt expect them to.. Its not like these have been babied, they just arent holding up.

I was leaning heavily towards the Geolandar's & stepping up to a 40" tire & then the obvious solution hit me. When I did these I only did 4 tires, but I have 5 wheels. For the time being I will just buy a 5th milestar to mount on my spare wheel in beadlock & run that till I get more wear on the rest of the set. This one with the sidewall issue is still holding air just fine so it will just become the spare.

And yeah the AEV Borah's can be ran in beadlock or traditional. Would only need the new wheels if there was a rubbing issue because the Borah's are a +25mm offset as opposed to the more common 0 or negative offset. One of the things I really like about my build is that its remained pretty narrow which has allowed me through some places that other JT's & JL's just cant fit.

Are you saying a 13.5" width vs 12.5" width gives you that ability? Should be a bit of a fuel economy boost running the 12.5" over wider ones. When I swapped from Pats to STT Pros on my JKU I lost 1.5mpg.

No its the +25mm offset wheels that keep me narrow. They are about an inch farther into the wheel wells on each side then 0 offset would be. Comparing what I have now to 13.50 tires on the -6mm offset of the Icon Rebound Pro's I am about 3.5" narrower now. I also have quite narrow fenders, but so far havent had any issues with the coppers about them. If I was that 1.75" wider on each side I am afraid I would.

Welp its been a hot minute, but I finally pulled the trigger on tires. Went with the 28 ridge grapplers because all other options are not available at this point. Almost pulled the trigger a few days ago on 39" ko2's but decided to sleep on it & they were sold out in the AM.

Get them mounted yet? 1st Impressions? Pics?
They are mounted & I have been running them for a couple weeks now. I really am impressed with how much improved the on road ride is. I havent had a chance to go get into the rocks yet. But that is part of why I went to an AT.

Think I'm about to hit up @Discount Tire and see if they can get these in ASAP.

I considered going the terragrappler route because those are supposed to offer the best on road ride from Nitto as far as ATs are concerned.
