New 2024 or upgrade my 2020 sport

I was at the dealer and was able to drive a 2024 mojave x. I am now torn. My plan had been to regear and add lockers to my 2020 sport. (I know I need lockers )
The seats in the X seem much improved over the cloth seats (the seats in the 2020 have been an issue for the wife since day one)

The full time 4wd option seems great.

It would be a 40k spend for new. (Ouch) rubicon x

Build up the 2020 sport would be about 15k
Lockers front/rear, shocks plus 2.5 lift and regear

So for 25k is it worth
Hid lights
Disconnected sway bar
Comfy leather seats
0 miles v the 2020 is just about out of warranty
Armor for trans and front skid plate
Full time 4wd

Only you can decide if the new is worth it vs build what you have. At the end of the day, no matter how much money you throw at your 2020 Sport, it will still be a 2020 and a Sport. Some folks don’t like the facts, but a Mojave will have a better resale down the road unless you beat the hell out of it. A Sport is great for someone who wants to get in the door and then build it their way as funds become available. I had a JKU that was just a base model, I bought it used and it already had been lifted and put on 37’s. I had to drop another 10K into it to get it “fixed” for what it was intended to be (and what I thought I was buying). When I bought my Gladiator I went right to the Rubicon and Mojave, didn’t want to look at the lower trim levels, for what my use was going to be I was money ahead to start with the Rubicon or Mojave. The Rubicon won out for two reasons: I was able to get a good deal on it, and I knew it would end up lifted, I didn’t see a reason to get the Mojave to gut it’s selling point- the suspension.

If you like the Mojave, plan to keep it stock, can use it for it’s intended purpose, or just like it and to hell with others opinions, then go for it. If you plan to lift it and do other mods, you might be money ahead to stick with your current Gladiator and build it your way.

Thicker seat bolsters and the wheel are unique Mojave features.

Oh. Thanks EciDIEGO. they didn't have a rubicon x on the lot. So if the rubi doesn't have the same comfy seats as the Mohave that might be the deal breaker.

Are you the type to always expect to have a vehicle bank note to pay on?

There is always another model year around the corner and being in the same boat again.

There is something to be said of having it paid off and that money saved can usually offset future repair costs to a point in time.

For the record, I am bad at financial advice. I just have been lucky the last 10-15 years to be able to afford my impulses and have enjoyed having paid off vehicles (usually).

I would be a cash buyer. at 0% I take the loan. I hadn't planned to buy new but the draw of those comfy seats for this old man's back.....

Given the Mohave doesn't meet my needs and the rubi doesn't offer the same seats I will likely continue with my build plan on the 2020

Given your profile listed occupation, you are probably smart enough to know what works for you.

Buying a vehicle is more than just a bare low numbers chase game.

It's well known the Mojave is the best trim therefore gets the best seats.
