So It's time for my state inspection and I have to break down and pay for a replacement windshield. If I replaced it every time a rock cracked it I'd have done so SIX TIMES since buying this thing. I drive 90 miles a day to work and back at 72 mph on a busy highway with endless construction so why bother with a new one every time a rock cracks it? I'm used to it I had a JK before this and it had a busted windshield when I traded it in lol. Has anyone figured out a way to reduce the frequency of this occurance? I'm ready to glue on a thin piece of lexan or something radical at this point.

The standard HGP Gorilla Glass Windshield runs $695+tax.
You can get a $50 discount code from Lite Brite.
My local installer quoted $170 to put it in.
Mine's still sitting in the box...

Yep, my installer gave me a quote on factory glass replacement of $545 installed, while the FCA dealer wanted $585 (or so, notes are on my desk at work). I have used this glass shop for several decades, they are nice people and respectful of my time. I think it was $147 installed. The tech wasn't too impressed with the molding around the glass, thin and wavy was how he described it, but he made it look nice.

I waited nearly two months to drag ass down there and do it, so I get it @Kevin_D.

RainX $10 solution. Get their glass repair kits. It may save you effort. In AZ we replace windshields every 3 months it seems. If the hit is not too bad I use the RainX.

Wife’s brand new JL with 60 on the clock was hit. This fixed it right up Before it started to travel.

it takes 10 minutes and is near perfect. It really works.

Granted, the extra $2 a Month on insurance for full replacement helps as well. We have it on all our cars.

Are you saying the Gorilla Glass molding was thin and wavy?

Anyone have experience with getting your insurance to cover all or part of your windshield replacement with Gorilla glass?

Do the stars or bullseyes (I've got one of each right now) disappear when you repair them with this?

Really depends on how big. I’ve had ones the size of a quarter completely fade away. Running cracks are a little bit tougher.
Those chips can be fixed and USAA paid to have someone come do it at my house at no cost to me-no deductible and not counting as a claim.

Were they stars, cracks or what? Done professionally did they disappear?

Stars I would say-If they have cracks they will probably Opt for a replacement. One was fantastic-the other just a hint of star but it was on lower glass and didn't bother.

Friend of mine did the HGP gorilla glass and his insurance covered up to what a normal windshield would cost and he paid the difference which I believe was about $50/$75 bucks
