The lead seams took 20-30 years to show signs of corrosion if the paint was in good shape.
I've never seen it, not if the paint was good. It takes moisture for the steel to corrode due to galvanic reaction. So a sealed joint should really never corrode.

Lead is like solder in that way, it seals the steel and if sealed by the paint, and not allowed to be wet, lead seams should last forever. And frankly, of all of the classics and antiques I've dealt with, they actually have - no damage at all.
There was no corrosion on the body of my Eagle other than where the CA sun baked the paint off.
The horizontal surfaces were nasty - paint was gone. But really, it was considered "rust-free".

I would not accept cracked seams on anything under 20 years old. It just should not happen.
He should take that in and chat with them about it. Something is amiss, and worse, it isn't going to get any better.

Maybe having the 3M clear wrap on the bottom is a good option to seal it off plus it’s a bit of a rock chip guard. I had this done to mine.
Yes, unless that cracks under the wrap, then the wrap holds moisture in and can make it worse if it cracks.
That should not have cracked. Unless a wrap forms perfectly to the entire surface, including down into those recesses where the sealer is, it isn't going to do much good.
I don't worry about rock chips with the steps on mine.

I would just apply some touch paint. Save the hassle and your times.
Thats honestly what im leaning toward. I honestly dont know how they would fix that area without a respray. Id rather just fill in the gaps where its in an area thats not super noticeable anyway. Just so far ive been less than happy with the 2025 compared to the 2020. The only thing ive liked more is the color i have and the update screen size.

On older trucks I'd worry about moisture collecting, but I guess that's less of an issue with aluminum.

Not really- this isn't anodized stuff.

Your truck, but I'd be all over them. These have warranties, and just putting touch-up paint over cracked paint............ visit my shop and look at some of the stuff I've worked on where someone "touched up"........ and a few years later, the back side rotted away from under the paint repairs.

I guess it depends on if you plan on keeping it very long. If not - go for it, but if you want to keep it, it's at least some risk.

I've got a crack there on the passenger side of my '22 Gobi. Didn't notice it until my last wheeling trip where I had it all twisted up. Might have been there before. Maybe the chassis flex was the last bit that pushed it over. Either way I crushed the rocker into the body on the other side so I'll just touch it up.

I've already decided no more winters for the girl.

yeah. I think i have decided to take it in and have it looked at when I can get some time to go by the closest dealership a few mins from my house. The one I purchased from is like 30-45 mins away, but i have a dealer that is like 5 mins from my house.

Well I decided to drive down the road to my closest dealer which I always did in the past with the 2020. I basically got told to take it where I bought it. I pulled in and was going to get an appointment scheduled, and then once I told them what i had wanted looked at ( paint and a couple other things) they asked if I bought it there. Said no, i bought it from so so and because they were the only one at the time with this color and model when I was ready. Suddenly "id take to to them, i think they have a body shop where we dont". I said ok, but what about the couple non paint things. "Id just take it there".

Wow, not sure ill give them my business there ever again like I had in the past for some things. Id rather drive 5 vs 45 mins but yeah. Sour taste in my mouth now.

They had two choices. Be mad they didn't have a past customer or be nice and try to get a future customer.
They made their choice.

New management? Or maybe just a different employee with an attitude?
