It’s 1 f-ing degree out and we had no power for 8 hours today. Now, I gots me some frozed pipes. Whoever decided that pipes can be run under a slab or through an exterior wall should be shot.
When I lived in Ct. we saw -35*F with no problems.

To late. We were not home in the morning and came back to no power after lunch. Stuff was already frozen. Now I wait until it thaws to see which wall to take apart. Merry Christmas to me!

But we had egg nog and rum.
I have a question-
We emptied a bottle of rum last night and I was not worried, I simply grabbed a new bottle. Does that make me a Boy Scout for ‘being prepared’ or a pirate for having copious quantities of rum?

Turn your water off at the street so there is no pressure on the line. When it thaws, you don't want a bunch of water coming in to make your house a water park. Godd luck and I am hoping you have a clogged line but no split.

I wasn't aware that Pirates had boy scouts.
You have proven me wrong.

I think that is good advice about shutting the water off at the street. I'd also suggest opening up your facets so when stuff starts to thaw, it can move and help thaw the rest and then at least empty the system.

I grew up in CT as well, and it amazes me how much of a Panic this state goes in during any time of weather that isn't 40-80 degrees. It's like they need the baby bear of weather. It's gotta be JUST RIGHT
