My dad and I had our issues, but one thing he did got major respect. He and my mom went on a long weekend trip, my brother was in high school and decided it was time for a party it was the 70s. Deal was I'd pick up any beer cans/bottles and he'd help me take then in for the return value (aka Oregon bottle tax) in exchange I keep my mouth shut. That worked great till our neighbor called the cops due to "disturbing the peace" aka music. So parents get home and brother fesses up, I got screwed on the deal, oh well at least I wasn't grounded. But the next Sunday the neighbors who were know to blast their Christian music after church did their thing, and yes my dad was "that asshole' when he called the cops on them for "disturbing the peace!"
