When I stopped making hay it was $2 for a small bale. And that was only 10 years ago. I still miss it. Mostly miss stacking the last few wagons in the field …… and Pap.
We were spoiled, we had a kicker. Always stacked the front of the wagon, then stacked the last few loads so that the wagons were full for delivery. 198 bales per wagon. If Pap could angle the kicker right, he would get you and just laugh! At 79, he was still doing hay.

Haven’t hauled hay since I was a kid. Then it was just me and another guy stacking 5 high from the ground and the farmer’s wife driving the Massey. Heaven help you if she ever saw a slightly dark cloud. Tractor went into 2nd and you got the workout of your life.
