Gas Prices: Inflation Adjusted, it’s been worse.
Note these are Annual Averages…the story of 2022 hasn’t been written yet.

Three Mile Island. They shut down the remaining reactor because of political pressure. The TMI episode ruined the nuke industry. Since then. There have been 2 nuke plants built. but they never came in line. You want to see a good documentary on it. Watch Netflix's "Meltdown, Three Mile Island". It's a 4 part series.

We was worried as shit on this side of the state when TMI happened too.

Nukes are the only way out without doubt but hose pressurized uranium things are only good for plutonium production and making some big money for the industry.

wikipedia: Wigner led the Theoretical Group at the Metallurgical Laboratory that included Alvin Weinberg, Katharine Way, Gale Young and Edward Creutz. The group's task was to design the production nuclear reactors that would convert uranium into plutonium.....
....
Under Weinberg, ORNL shifted its focus to a civilian version of the meltdown-proof Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) away from the military's "daft"[35] idea of nuclear-powered aircraft. The Molten-Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) set a record for continuous operation and was the first to use Thorium irradiated to produce uranium-233 as fuel. It also used plutonium-239 and the standard, naturally occurring uranium-235.
.....
The MSRE was shutdown by executive order of President Nixon expressly because it does not produce plutonium. It has never been resumed.

You have to think back to the Nixon era. That was the height of cold war. We and the USSR was making nukes left and right. The the need for plutonium was large. Now we hopefully don't need it. Would like to see the Thorium reactor research pick up.
