I finally captured this noise I've been recently experiencing.

I disconnected my Start/Stop eliminator because I had read messing with ESS can cause engine lagging/knocking so wanted to rule that out.

This happens when shifting from 2nd to 3rd (automatic) just above 2000RPM, once the shift happens giving some extra gas causes the noise to occur. It is easily reproduced but difficult to capture on camera.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!

You do have to turn your volume up

So I am not the only one... I heard this noise a few weeks back and its been driving me crazy!! Haven't had time to take it in to a dealer but plan to. It sounds like the drive shaft is rattling or something. I am currently at 7700 miles.

Couldn't agree more. I've been under mine multiple times banging around trying to replicate the sound. I even added foam to the hangers for the shift cables and parking brake cables with no luck. It is definitely an engine stalling sound from the low RPMs directly after shifting gears. If you take it in let me know what they say? I am trying to find some time to get mine in as well because it is insanely annoying. The sound is very loud if it bounces off a vehicle next to me or a tall median.

That's how I originally heard it. The noise was echoing and I looked at my wife and asked her if she heard that or if I was crazy!

I have a 6spd manual and mine does this from time to time in 2nd or 3 gear while giving it gas. It almost sounds like a peice of cardboard touching a fan blade.

Never found the source. I think it's in the transmission programming, the RPMs are dropping too low when slowly accelerating at slow speeds and the engine lugs. Not entirely sure though.

Dang I don’t think I’ve had that one (yet). I have heard a weird “gong” noise at like 50 mph. Kinda echo’y but maybe I’ll get lucky enough to hear it with my window down. It might sound like yours from the outside.

Are you running low Octane fuel, 87 or 89? I had a knocking sound until I read where running high octane 93 would resolve this. It did, for me.

After I got nowhere with the dealer on the noise, I started using 89. Noise is still occurring after a few months so maybe ill jump to 91 but I feel that is a Band-Aid fix to a larger issue.

Fan starting to kick on extra loud so I have a new reason to take it to the dealer :D

Mine does it also. 2021 3.6L auto. When I drive next to a concrete barrier the sound reflects better. Def from the trans, it sounds like when you drive stick and you start off in 1st, but your really in 3rd and the trans makes that rattle noise.

Our engines are designed for 87, no reason we should have to run 91 to prevent these noises. I have also tried all grades of fuel included premium gas with no resolution of the sound. It is much more than a fuel issue IMO

Yes, that is pretty much what is sounds like. That's how I recorded it in my video earlier in this thread. I was driving by a parked car and caused the noise to happen with my camera rolling. Seriously sounds like garbage in such an expensive vehicle.

Anyone take this in to the dealer and find out what was causing the noise? Or was it just "it's normal for a jeep" response lol.
