Anyone ever seen this? While driving at night I can see that the backlit buttons on the steering wheel are randomly flickering off and on. When it is happening my cruise control will get cancelled and also I have to hit the "prev/next" buttons for the radio sometimes multiple times to get it to take. Seems like there might be a loose connection or a bad ground to the steering wheel controls.

Any idea if this is an easy thing to troubleshoot inside the steering wheel (like a simple connector to unplug and replug)?

Sounds like you may have an issue with the contact connections in the clockspring. Would be interested to know if your symptoms disappear when you angle your steering wheel a little bit one way or the other. Can you duplicate the issue while sitting in a parked position and if so turn the steering wheel a little one way or the other and see if it affects the flickering symptom.
