Ya I am still "around" I just don't feel like arguing with people so I took a break from these forums.
You've been a wealth of knowledge. sorry you experienced that. it's the internet. People act stupid . Thanks for your advice .

Reading this post makes me laugh, this was all figured out long ago. James, James07 or something like that is actually the Guru when it comes to the Jeep electronics. He walked me through this a few years back. The reason it “appears” to work after you drive the car is because the modules have time to initiate again (I actually forget the exact wording James used), but all you have to do after you turn on the remote start in JScan is restart all the moduals. I did it and it worked fine. People are to impatient

But these post just keep popping up year after year, arguing about things that were solved many years ago and posted. I am not the best at using and finding stuff with the search feature, but it is all here already figured out. New people join this forum and think they have figured out how to turn rocks into diamonds, but the truth is is has all been done before. In fact the people on the board that have figured everything out have left and do not come on anymore. Most likely from dealing with this very situation.
James07 or James whatever his screen-name was is the man when it comes to Jeep wiring and computer stuff. I wish he was still posting, I would come on here more often just to read his posts. I think he even did a write up on adding the different modules and wiring for the RF antenna.
Nobody is arguing , we took wedduelist's advice and he was right. It was the parts guy at the dealer that told me that it wasn't going to work .

I just did this Monday. Got the key fob last week and made an appointment at the dealer. Had 4 service writers and 2 techs tell me it wouldn’t work. I told them it would and they of course argued. Had them program the key for me, drove home and enabled remote start with jscan. I did a couple sleep cycles and got out and hit the button twice and it started right up.
Drove back to the dealer Tuesday for an oil change and told them it worked. They were amazed it worked.

I had the same experience the parts guy at Jeep told me it was not going to work and the service writer did not take a position he said he was unsure. I told them I was fairly certain it was going to work because of wedduelists advice. Webduelists advice has always been 100% accurate

New fob w/remote start button. Added to vehicle by dealer. Turned on in JScan. Works from fob, not from app (still under trial subscription for the $18/mo whatever you call it). Should it work from the app, or is this a “fob only” thing?

BTW ... dealer charged me $129.99 for "02DOZPK: PROGRAM KEY/FOBIK" ... does that sound right? Then they told me they couldn't cut the key because they "don't have a laser" (their words, not mine). Old school local key shop from the 50's did it in about 5 minutes for $20.

Oh ... also *did not* activate the remote start sales code, tech said I "didn't ask for that" followed by the "won't work without a module upgrade" stuff. :/

The App pulls its information from an online database not the Truck, I believe it is handled by Sirius Guardian, They would need to add it on the app backend. Its technically possible but very difficult to get someone to do it.

The laser thing and cost is about right for a dealer. The keys can be cut old school but its not as accurate as with the laser cutter, dealers are likely under contract to not cut keys the old school way with Chrysler but that is speculation.

Glad it worked for you.

Thanks! Good to know I may be expecting something that’s not gonna happen re: the app. Guess that’ll mean not continuing the monthly subscription when it expires. I already verified that the Sirius “Xtra” channels that use wireless instead of satellite will work using the vehicles “own” connection instead of needing a separate subscription.

The dealer I used charged me $90 to program the fob. I took the old and new fobs apart and swapped the cut key and the blank key.

The local dealer in my neighborhood offers free bottled water to drink while waiting, but charges $37.50 for labor and parts supplies to open the bottle. Well ... maybe a little sarcasm there ... but it's why I normally deal with another dealer an hour and a half drive up the interstate.

I did think about swapping the keys out but decided an extra key in a safe place isn't really a bad idea.
