Bump for an old thread. I just purchased a 21 JTRD, wondering about a catch can. Reading on jlforums, they're causing (or at least we're causing) CELS. Who has one on their Gladiator ED? Any CEL? What's the deal?

I am interested to, I saw the same JL threads. Seems like there is a sensor that is looking a very specific pressure in that system and a catch can change the results of that pressure.

HI guys, I probably have had more experience than all at the JTRD catch can set up. Almost 30k on mine now. I have MIL on dash most of the time. I installed the newest ProVent200 with modified bypass valve on mine from day one. It has collected almost a 1 litre pickle jar full of oil and crud that would have gone into my intake and engine. The dealer did the warranty line on me and then gave up when I showed the techs the crud that is not going into my engines intake system. I will post photos but not now, in the middle of a snow storm. And yes the sensor on the intake plenum is very sensitive to oil mist and pressure. My MIL tells the techs that my CCV is disconnected or open to atmosphere. Pretty silly when its a closed loop and under a vacuum. That's just FCA and all manufacturers trying to make engine bays "THEIRS" and not ours. Its all about revenue generation at the dealerships, and manufacturer liabilities. HMMMM! As I have posted on another forum open your air inlets in the hood, mine since day one, and don't run your engine cover. Get the heat out of your engine compartments. My engine has not been over 98c since new and I pull a 3500 lb boat in the summer.

Are they trying to say your warranty is void? I have followed these threads for years with guys installing bypass filters on commercial trucks and just changing filter every oil change and then changing oil every other change and they swear by it and have the lab results showing their results....
