Oil leak

Service department at my Jeep dealer said I had an oil leak when brought it in for an oil change. And they wanted to add dye ($129) to the oil and for me to bring it back after 1k miles so they can search for the leak, I assume with a UV light. Now I've parked my jeep in the same spot in my driveway for over four years and there's not a drop of oil or other fluid anywhere. Are they yanking my chain...

Have you looked underneath? I'm experiencing an oil leak again, and it's coating the underside of the engine without leaving a puddle, just a drop on the cardboard.

Most likely it's your RMS if it isn't leaving a stain, check the inspection plugs under the engine. If it's super light I'd just run with it. Mine develops a slight RMS leaked every 2 years like clock work, now that warranty is up it will just live with 2 years from now when it does it again.

$129 seems a little stiff for a bottle of dye and a lower engine spray down! If it’s been years and no drops on the floor as the previous poster said…..I’d just go with it! Not enough loss to worry about. I’m sure life has presented challenges to prioritize and this isn’t one of them. If you have some kind of extended warranty that needs dealership documentation then the $129 bottle of dye( I guess) would be necessary.
