First of all a warm hello from Germany!
I would like to tell you how ordering and tracking for european customers works. Or not works...
Just an information to show you how different things work outside the US!
Really surprisingly official orders for the JT opened in Germany in February after a long time of uncerntainty if the Gladiator will be officially available in Europe or not.
For the launch you had the choice between the following trims: Sport, Overland, Launch Edition and 80th Edition. All of them are equpped with the 3,0 Diesel engine, the selec trac, DANA 44, selec speed, full LED, dual climate control and keyless go. The Sport feature the 7" Uconnect with 3,5" Display all others have the 8,4 Ucnnect and 7" Display.
Prices started at 60500.- EUR for the Sport, 70000.- EUR for the Overland and 73500.- for the 80th Edition. Don´t remember the Launch Edition Guess it was at 75000.- EUR.
I got a real good deal and went for the Sport because it was the only with no leather seats and black fenders.
I ordered in mid march. And a friend of me also went for the Sport and ordered abot a week later. The possibillity of ordering the Sport trim was closed in end of March. Now you have to buy a Overland in Germany if wanna buy the cheapest JT!!
After almost 8 weeks we received a ordering confirmation and an estimated build week but no VIN. The assembly was scheduled for Week 27! In week 30 I asked how things are going and got the answer that the new estimated build week is week 29. Ok, I answered we´re in week 30 so whats going on? The dealer had no clue and no chance to get further information due to different order tracking systems...
Last week I contacted my salesperson again and got the info that my JT was build and on it´s way to Germany. The provided VIN let me to a build sheet were all things seemed as I ordered! The only differnce was that they changed the aluminium rims from silver to black - something I would have ordered if it would have been possible!
I told it my friend who ordered exact the same build only in sting grey instead of white and he got the information that his JT has already to Germany. We found out that his JT was build on May 25th and mine on July 21st. And both Gladiator were obviously shiped with only one week defference...
So I have to wait some more weeks because I have no clue an which ship my Gladiator is and when it will arrive in Europe.
I will report how things go on - after almost 6 month of waiting I guess I will also survive the last weeks...
Greetings from Germany and enjoy your JT´s!
