Well, the woodworking shop is winding down as the temps creep closer to triple digits, so it's been a "mad rush" to finish up projects.

A few boxes to better organize spices in the cupboards. Red Oak and I tried a couple of different joinery methods that I haven't used before:

A Keepsake Box of Walnut and Curly Maple that I needed to get sent out in time for Mother's Day:

And then a silly one. For any fans of the show Modern Family, there was an episode where Jay was "inventing" the "Sock-It-To-Me" sock dispenser...so I made it with some Pine off cuts. LOL

Dang, puts my stuff to shame.

I made a jig to cut the slots for this type of joint. Holds the "box" at the perfect angle to cut the slots on the table saw, then drive the "key" into the slot with some glue, cut off the excess, and you have a nice looking, strong joint.

Seems like all I do anymore is woodworking and Jeeps..lol

Yessir. That's exactly how I did it. I made the jig for the joints on both sets of boxes. The spline jig is the easier of the two. Those finger joints on the upper set are a PITA if you get even a fraction misaligned. They are not my favorite to use/make.

I'll tell ya, the craziest one I've done was on the olive wood box in an earlier post. Because the olive is so dense and pretty brittle, I was worried that the miter joints wouldn't hold up. So I routed a groove in every miter so that I could glue in a reinforcement spline on each joint. You can see it them in this pic:

"Semi" retired here as well. Friend of mine passed away late last year,in the middle of opening a new business. Been helping his widow with all the stuff she can't afford to pay someone to do.
So that means take all my woodworking and maintenance skills and build a bar/cigar lounge.

Outstanding!!
You have no idea the amount of stress involved with pouring an almost 60ft epoxy bar top that involves blending multiple pigments before everything sets!

Dude, I can imagine. I know how stressful an epoxy pour to fill a crack on a 4 foot slab is. Your pour would be exponential!!! Lol

Always been interested in pretty much all kinds of firearms. Started doing my own ARs around 2008 along with the associated tax stamp stuff.

Still have a bunch of stuff to do to the 6933 but have been more occupied with the Jeep and cooking things on the smoker.

I have always loved cutting grass and managing property, for some weird reason.

We bought the place in 2012. 70 acres.
I do a little more every year, but I have developed the place so that the house essentially sits in the middle of my own wildlife refuge.
No pets to bother the creatures, and I provide plenty of food, cover, and water.
My last 6 deer and I lost count on turkeys have all been taken from either the kitchen window, upstairs in the garage, or the little side porch off of the kitchen.
I have stocked the pond to my liking with a small amount of hybrid striped bass. Just ate one the other night.

We see deer, turkeys, geese, ducks, rabbits, squirrels, ospreys, eagles, hawks, bears, foxes, raccoons, foxes, coyotes, and more on a pretty regular basis. Deer and turkeys are daily.

Just finished building a portable reverse osmosis system for processing maple sap.
A RO system for maple works like one for your water at home, only in reverse. This strips out the water and saves the sugar/sap. On average, you have to boil 40 gallons of sap down to make one gallon of maple syrup. By stripping out 50% (or more) water out of the sap with the RO first, it will reduce the time it takes to boil by half.
Now I just have to wait 10 months to try it out.

Mostly I like nature and landscapes, but I do enjoy snapping unposed shots of people and kids.
Last weekend a friend asked me if I'd come to their property and shoot some baby herons they'd discovered in a nest on their wooded pond.
She sweetened the offer with a loaf of her sourdough, so yeah, I couldn't say no.
