P0300, P0137, P0133, P0171, P0300, P2096, P0137, P0300, P0137. In that order. I won't clear the codes before I get it towed to dealer tomorrow?

I should have kept the 2020.

If there is I haven’t heard of one. I go through this twice a month along with random throttle control issues since October. Most of the same DTC’s also. It’s been to dealer on multiple occasions where some ā€œASEā€ meat stick informs me they can’t find anything in the usual ā€œunable to duplicate conditionā€ format. I have asked about TSB’s or open campaigns about software issues and they say no.

That’s getting more and more true as every day passes. ASE certified use to have a level of assurance to the customer but anymore ( even 5-8 years ago )it’s importance has started to show how meaningless this title is. There are SOME of the younger generation that have somehow learned the whole pride point of performing a job and completing it but that’s becoming few and farther between. Some on this forum are fortunate enough to have that dealer with that guy and most are not!

It’s the prevailing trend, I hear it’s with most trades now. I can’t back that up just what I hear so it’s anecdotal. For my trade though, diesel techs it’s absolutely a thing. Parts changers is what we call them. Couldn’t troubleshoot a bowl of oatmeal usually, if you can even find one. As technology has evolved you almost become an IT tech along the way. There is as much or more software/hardware/multiplexing issue as actual big part bad simple stuff. Then the kids who do come into it are railroaded by step by step process that can’t be circumvented for warranty reasons so they never get to think outside the box. If they exhaust the steps call tech support. Essentially between the quality of tech available today and OEM methods we end up with trained idiots.

I don’t come out of the diesel side but my experience in the gasoline automotive side hits what you say to a T!!! All the paperwork BS that these manufacturers create for techs to complete and still yet they expect them to continue working on a flat rate system. No wonder ā€œcould not duplicate ā€œ is the most common quote on an R.O. Thats not a cut n dry repair. Yet the customers time is what’s wasted.
I see eventually all diags will be performed remotely by the tech assistance teams with the manufacturer and you WILL have a shop of ā€œ literal ā€œ parts replacers…..probably not too far off from that reality.

Can’t speak for automotive and that might be hard with the volume of vehicles, certainly not impossible, but what your saying exist already within heavy equipment. There are performance people and/or groups who watch the machine using telematics remotely. Not only active/inactive fault history but historical trends on engine and drive systems, implements, etc… There is still the hands on element. Recently before I went down for knee surgery was on customer site collecting ECM trend logs, removing cylinder heads to take pictures because some engineers said so via this telematics data. I was just a tool with tools. From an experienced tech standpoint it’s awful…..it’s like leaving the dog caged while the robbers make off with your flat screen. Before this BS I would do the tear down, failure analysis and recommend corrective action. That element is going away slowly.

I actively experience it twice a month, and intermittent throttle control, and random burst of white/blue smoke on start up(which is rare but happens) No messages, I’m just biding my time for something else in this sideways market and then it can actively experience being a used car.
