Passenger Mirror motor not working

I replaced the passenger door wire harness and the problem was not corrected. Today I found the problem. There was a broken wire and two nearly broken wires inside the driver door limiting strap. I replaced the driver door wire harness and everything now works. I should be good for another 4 years or so.

This is an old thread, but I never got to this on my to do list. And I might today. How bad was it to access the wires in the door limit strap?do you remember what wire color was the problem? Mine is the passenger side vertical movement that doesn’t work. Everything else works.

As a temporary repair, I removed the tape on the driver door side of the limit strap and was able to access and splice the damaged/broken wire in the driver side door wire harness. The wire that caused the failure in the horizontal movement of the passenger side mirror was gray with an orange stripe. Since other wires were also about to break, I replaced the entire drive side door harness about a week later. Other wires in the old harness broke when I removed the old harness for the permanent repair.

Thanks. I’ve got door checks coming, so I’m tempted to take your advice and replace both front harnesses while I’ve got the doors apart. How bad was the harness to replace?

The hardest part of the process was unplugging the connector for the electric door lock, and then plugging that connector from the new harness back in. Access to that connector was challenging. The rest of the install was pretty straight forward.

If I remember correctly, I was able to slightly wedge apart that area of the door to gain a bit more wiggle room. I did not want to remove the window glass as I was not familiar with that process.
