I like where ur going with this. Saw another launcher I may try for myself as well as the free version of urs. Will have to try this out this weekend. Keep up the tips n tricks. If there's any other apps u recommend, please list. Didn't realize there would be this much customization! Glad I got this head unit.

So, I tried to install and use MediaMonkey as my Music app for local storage music. I was getting an unable to write to SD error and couldn't get it to scan my music folders. So, I googled music apps that work with Car Launcher and ended up with Rocket Player.

The app is pretty basic, but I just wanted something that would show the meta data and allow control directly from the Car Launcher UI. I am still testing it, so I haven't paid to remove the ads yet. The ads do not come through the Car Launcher UI anyway, so no big rush to remove them. The built in Music app is just ok and does not allow any integration with the Car Launcher UI. The integrated Music app also does not have any playlist features. I will probably keep Rocket Player as it integrates well and provides playlist functionality.

I have not done any troubleshooting with the MediaMonkey issue so not sure what that problem is.

Yes, you can use your own image. Here is a video on that process:

There are some additional videos here:

I love the blue accent lights. How did you get the button color to stay blue? Mine keeps cycling, despite selecting blue on the settings screen...

Anxious to see if the new split screen Android Auto will work with this head unit, if the update ever gets released.

There are two places to set the color. Only one works. I believe it is under vehicle settings where it actually works.

Intriguing. This thing has way better specs than the Insane Audio units, and a much bigger screen. The "Specifications" link on their web page appears to be broken, but theres some solid info in the pictures and description - far more than IA is offering.

It looks like the 6gb / 128gb unit is sold out. I sent them an email asking if I could be notified when its back in stock to purchase one, and I got an automated email that they had created an account for me.. Generic weird / goofy china stuff.

I get pretty sketched out by these because I dont know what kinda software or data theft stuff could be buried in the OS - Id really rather go with a name brand - but the specs on this are so much better than what IA or Stinger are offering, its really tempting.

Looks like the resolution on these is 1600x1200 (found by googling, wasnt listed on the product page, could be wrong) which is pretty disappointing - limited value added in having a much bigger screen if the resolution is still trash, as shown by the MASSIVE icons and text in the pictures.

If this thing was HD, Id have a really hard time saying no to it. Im glad theyre sold out, Id strongly consider purchasing one to try it out. For now Ill probably keep limping along with my IA JL3001, but man, Id really like something with better specs.

So, as far as the resolution is concerned, I don't mind it at all, especially when watching YouTube videos. The backup camera is a little grainy, but Nav (I use Waze) looks and works fine. I'm very happy with mine, despite it's occasional wonkiness with certain launch screens. I also wish the physical buttons weren't so generic, but I've gotten used to it.

I looked into the IA, Stinger and Linkswell. None of them integrated with the OEM Mic and GPS antenna. They utilized the OEM USB though. The resolution is fine for anything I need. I am not trying to game or do anything that requires a higher resolution. The OEM integration is far more important to me. And the price difference is completely unjustified to me.

If you watch the videos from Phoenix, posted a couple posts back, the knobs can be customized. I have the right knob set to adjust the temp instead of fan speed.

Same boat as u. In my opinion, the pros have outweighed the cons, not by a whole bunch, but enough to justify a good buy due to price point.
