That was my preferred mounting location (I like the one that doubles as a cup holder), but it doesn't work on 2024 and up JL/JTs due to the redesigned dash for the larger screen size.I didn't want to lose the dash tray and I don't like anything blocking the windshield so I went with a mount that attaches behind the passenger grab bar. A side benefit is that in hot weather you can blow the A/C vent directly on the phone to keep it from overheating. The quality of the mount I got wasn't that great so I reinforced it and altered it, but the basic bracket that sandwiches behind the grab bar is OK. I may buy a copy of the bicycle mount I use in my plane and attach it to the existing bracket.

Closest thing I've found is the Bulletpoint grab bar mount for the '24+ Jeeps. It comes in their 20mm ball or the 1" ball that allows me to still use my Ram mounts.
