I picked up a 2021 Overland this weekend with 10k miles on it. I was initially looking at Tacomas but after a few test drives I was not impressed by the lack of power or shifting patterns. Not to mention at 6" 2" I felt like I was sitting on the floor while driving.

So I ended up test driving a few Gladiators and pulled the trigger on a Granite Crystall Metallic Overland. I was looking for a Sting Gray but couldn't find one with the options I wanted in that color.

I thought It might be difficult going from a cammed crew cab 2015 Silverado (Affectionately known as "Uncle Sam" due to the fact it was draining my wallet also with repairs) with the 6.2 to the six in the Jeep. But after driving the Jeep for a couple of days losing 220 horsepower wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Of course I have been driving a 2014 Rav4 for a month so that might have dulled my sensory receptors a tad. I am 60 so I probably don't need to be racing Raptors,Tundras or Rams anyway.
While the power in the Jeep is by no means awe inspiring it is still pretty peppy for a six cylinder and shifts pretty smoothly.

The only complaint I had after the first day was the lack of legroom in the front seats. After browsing through this forum I found a seat extension to move the seat back 5 inches. Issue will be resolved by ordering the $350.00 extensions from Extendmyseat for the driver side. Great I'm going to get out cheap on modifying this thing.

Second day of reading through the forum I quickly found out that the 35" tires and small 2" lift or level looks pretty sweet compared to the stocker 255/70/17s. Not bad another 2-3k thats doable. Oh wait I'm going to need a Tazer programmer to tune for the tire size change also. Might as well add a camera to the front while I'm at it.

I was at the movie theater yesterday and came out to find that some a$$hat backed into my front bumper and took off without leaving a note. Grrr. Not a big deal.
the bumpers are pretty cheap and they need to be upgraded anyways. But that can wait as my buddy bought a Jeep Wrangler 4XE last week and said I could have his front bumper. That will hold me over for a while and keep me from spending another 2K for now?

While the Alpine stereo is decent the sub and speakers leave a little to be desired and I guess I need to add that to the list of mods also. Another $1K+.

But that is all I am going to have do to this thing. Right? Right?

In all seriousness this is a fun little truck to drive and me and my wife are super happy with our purchase. Y'all have some damn nice rides on here and I will definitely be taking build ideas from you.

I am currently looking for low interest loans or a second job to fund this hobby.

Peace out!
these trucks are addicting with all the aftermarket stuff for them.

I don't know why ANYONE would modify ANY JEEP.

That's why mine will remain bone stock.

Wish you were closer, you could have my take off gratis.

;)

I'm digging the white rims on your ride. I originally was going to get the white gladiator but my buddy bought a white Jeep 4XE and beat me to it. I guess as a consolation he's giving me his take off front bumper lol.
But I do appreciate the offer sir. Very kind.

Congrats on the Overland! You forgot to add 4.56 gears after the lift and 35's. Thats the only backdraw with the overland is the 3.73 gears.

I hate to say it (no I don't) - yours is tastefully done. The mods look nice and the old-school look with matching white wheels - nice.
IMO, just the right amounts of black and red and the bumper a good fit cosmetically, and functionally at the same time.

If you're the victim of a hit-and-run, your insurance policy may help cover the cost of repairs and injuries. I would look into it. It should not affect your rates. Take that money and put it toward a nice winch bumper

Yes and no. I agree and disagree sometimes.
For my use - the 3.73 gears are fine. Even for my towing at 5,000 pounds, they are fine. But then I've only run 32.2" or 32.8" (Rubicon take-offs) on my Overlands.
A regear is tempting at times but I also like the MPG I get.
If I went up to say 34" tires, I'd maybe think differently - and that could be my next move.

I live in Houston which is pretty flat so I am hoping I can get by for awhile with the 3.73s and 35's. I work from home so commuting is a non factor. I don't plan on any hard core off roading or pulling a trailer either. Probably beaches and dirt trails mostly.

We weren't in the Jeep when it happened. I have a free bumper to replace it also.

Hit and run is a hit and run. Cant hurt to check
I'd report it, do not tell them about the free bumper, collect the check, install the free bumper.
I have run my own shop multiple times - in the 80s my then wife went to the bank and while inside, someone in the bank noticed smoke coming from under the hood of a car out front. It was our car. A quick-thinking teller grabbed a fire extinguisher and took care of things.
Some melted wires and vacuum hoses but it was able to get back home.
I submitted a bid to fix the car using my business name, business card and got paid to fix the car.

Similar for two times my big RED and silver F250 got run into - that poor BIG RED and silver 4x4 must have looked like a target.

I’ll never understand you whipper snappers and your mods. Mine is 100% stock except for the bumper, winch, auxiliary lighting, bumper, lift, tires, reinforcement brackets, cb radio, grab handles, tail lights, head lights, fog lights and a few other things… y’all are totally irresponsible.

I bought my truck second hand with some nice upgrades, 2.5 inch lift, 35's, steel bumper w/winch. I thought I would save a ton of money because all the truck needed was the rear bumper ha!

NOPE, ended up spending a ton of cash anyways, swapped shocks, swaybar disconnects, new fenders, new tires, new bed cover, full LED lights, full skid plates, and a bunch of other things that I'm forgetting. I'm pretty sure it will never really end.
