I will be needing to add power steps(boards) to our Gladiator. My question is how do they operate with the doors removed?

If I remember correctly, at least for Rock Slide Engineering, there's a harness/button combo that allows them to be actuated with the doors off.

Rock slide engineering has a master power switch for the steps and you can purchase a switch kit for manual control with the doors off.

Their 1 kit only provides switches for 2 doors though. I have 1 kit for the front doors then 3d printed a magnet holder for when I remove the rear doors. The magnet over the sensor is what activates the steps. I actually much prefer the magnet holder I made over drilling and wiring their switch kit in.

Interior is still a little dirty from last weekends Uwharrie trip.

First is of the 3d printed magnet holder I designed. Second is the RSE switch I put in the removable sill panel by the seat belt.

Another thing to add about the RSE steps. They block a lot of the tire kick up from getting the sides of the Jeep dirty. They stick out from the body about as far as the fender flares.

I really like those magnets you made. How do they hold up on the road? or off road for that matter?

I have had no problem with them either on or offroad.

I glued 2 magnets in each one. One for the switch and one against the metal latch itself.

That's exactly what I'd do - set a magnet over the magnetic switch. So easy it's silly.
A magnet to keep the other from bouncing out of the striker.
Any means of holding a magnet near the switch will work.
Or - just turn them off with the switch they have you force into place next to the OBD connector.
I had to bend the heck out of their bracket to allow space for any device to connect to the OBD port on my JT and on my wife's JLU, their switch bracket is gouging a massive factory harness badly. And the switches keep getting bumped. Piss-poor place to put it, and the steel they use is worthy of a battle ship so it's really hard to bend or modify it.
I WILL find a better place for their on/off switch, for sure, but it's handy for now if you are working on the Jeep and don't want the steps to activate.

Yep. When I go offroading I just use their power switch and turn them off completely. No chance of them opening up on a rock.
