I just bought a 90 mile 2021 Gladiator that has been significantly modified. I am not an experienced off roader, and although I got the list of mods, I have to admit that some of them are not familiar to me. The previous owner had the work done.

So here is my first question- it has the Powersteps XL JT installed. They lower and raise automatically as the doors open or close. Is there an override that enables me to lower them and have them stay lowered ?

There’s a switch to override them so they want open but if you hold your foot on them they stay down it’s a safety feature to keep them from closing on something when I wash mine at the car wash as soon as I get out I just put my foot on the step and you can fill it start to close then it stops it will stay down until you open the door again then it will close but I don’t know if switch that keeps them from opening will let them stay open with the switch I choose not to install that switch that I am referring to

This is mine. I'm finding some stuff about an override switch. I will have to inspect the dash to see if I have one.

AMP Research that makes the XL power steps they offer a switch to control the step function that you have to buy separate like I said the switch will keep them from opening when you take the doors off I just don’t know if the switch will keep them open while you are checking the dash for a switch look around on the steering wheel column some people mount switches there and by the way that’s a sharp gladiator

I have the Rockslide Engineering steps, though not the same, but I do have a switch that either disables the step from coming down or I can lower the step and lock it open. I would say you have a switch somewhere. I mounted mine under the dash by my left foot.

The switch is optional, if the previous owner didn't specifically ask for it, it probably wasn't installed.

There aren't many good places to mount additional switches. Check the steering column covers or next to the A/C Controls.

Here is a picture of the XL override switch where I installed it.
