I was replacing my stock tires and wheels with new wheels and 37s. However, I will still need my jeep for occasional towing and long road trips. That made me consider keeping the originals for towing or long road trips and 37s for daily driving and weekend fun.

Would like to hear pros and cons in case I haven't thought of something.

Go.

The only con I can see is storing the spare set: those things are fairly large, especially the 37s.
TPMS shouldn’t be an issue, as they’ll automatically re-pair with the truck.

This is what I plan to do, once the wife says I can spend the $$ on 37s and wheels.

We drive from PA to FL once or twice a year, so I need hood gas mileage. Plus, because of PA's tire laws, I need oem width for inspection.

I am doing the same thing...keeping my originals for towing and long distance highway. If you think about it, the large ones will be stored when you are away from home anyway, so no real issue there.

I was thinking about this as well, wont alignment be an issue going from 33 to 37 and back? Or would it not affect it enough to matter?

I've had dual sets of wheels and tires for various vehicles for geeze, several decades. My Ranger was setup to go fast but I did run muds at the ranch and for hunting. Likewise, the H2 wore factory AT's except when 37" muds were a better choice.

The disadvantages are cost of the tires & wheels and of the compressor and air tools to make it a 15 min process to swap. 37's are heavy and you need to develop some different technique for mounting them AND the spare when you trade.

I don't anticipate getting muds for my JTR, nor running the muds I have for my YJ - the OEM Falken AT's work REALLY well on the little Jeep.

Alignment is not affected in the least by swapping tires; braking distance is certainly affected by larger/heavier/lower traction tires, and ride quality and handling is likewise affected.

Edit to add: An additional advantage of two sets of wheels/tires is that you can drop off said wheels for new tires without having to drop your vehicle off as well. I may re-think the whole "don't need another set for the JTR" solely on that basis.

Ive had dual sets on a couple of Wranglers. Wish I could afford 2 sets now- 37s for the street, and 39s for the trail!

works very well just takes about 30 mins to swap tires total manual with 4 way lug wrench and 3 1/2 ton jack from harbor freight. I have 3 sets my stock 245/70r17 , for long trips to florida ect. . the 285s that i run every day on stock rims which i bought for $300 with tires and sensors with 50 miles on them and now working on my off road set rocktrix 9x17 5.5 backspacing +12 offset on my wide dana 44s , I dont want them to throw dirt and mud all over the side of my truck, with AT 35s 12.50 x17 . tire blocks just incase you get stuck they are great just put on if you get stuck and they are as just like having 37s with tractor tire cleats .

Let's pretend money grows on trees for a second...

Would you guys suggest a re-gear more appropriate for the 37s (which would remain on most of the time) or the stock 4.11 gears for the stock rubicon wheels/tires, which will be towing and long road trips only.

It would be more appropriate if you are running the 37s more than the smaller ones.

You might also consider a tazer or other to change the speedometer back and forth (if you care the accuracy of speed and miles).
