Hey Gang,

I've been toying around with the idea of adding some puddle lights to turn on and off with the doors unlocking or opening.
Seeking some examples, but I'm ultimately leaning towards 1 KC Cyclone light on each side of the truck under the middle of the OEM running board for location. Maybe 2 per side if the 1 isn't enough. But they are fairly bright. I would probably wire them both off a central power block under the truck mounted somewhere.
The wiring, Im not so sure where to tap in or add a fuse though. Not trying to over power any circuit.
The dome light/bed light circuit seems logical but i dont want to over power it.
This is where some insight would be helpful if anyone has done something similar.

The are fairly low draw lights .42A per light.

Any help is appreciated.

I’m no help but would be very interested in what and how you wind up doing this. Please post pics of your completed project

I guess the real question now is. 1 or 2 KC Cyclones per side.
Will definitely run off bed light power for this project.

Just to update for any other searchers.

I ended up not going the cyclone route.

I ended up getting a 4 pack off amazon that i saw in someone elses thread here.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D3L8RH77?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I also grabbed some 100lb magnets (for multiple projects) and these little j-boxes.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJP7SVVZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

The wiring length on the individual lights fed into the Jbox, where they will be connected via Wago connectors is the perfect length to place the lights centrally under each door and have the jbox centrally located via the magnet.
I was planning on screwing the actual lights themselves into the underside of the oem running boards. But im not 100% sure on that yet. I might mount them a little further in under the body. But ill test placement when the time comes.

I will be running power via posi taps from each bed light for power to the box on each side, and will ground locally to a nut on the frame or something underneath where the box is.

All i am trying to aciheve here is puddle lights on the timer with the bed lights, nice and easy.

How did they come out? Thinking about doing the same thing

I did this several months ago, one under each door, and wired to the bed lights so every time the
bed lights come so do the curtesy lights!
