QQ: If 35s weigh the same as 37s tire, I imagine damage is the same also

For me, that is an easy answer. I would go with the light 37s and re-gear. Although what everyone said before me is true, lighter 37s are easier on the drivetrain than heavier 37s. Note: I have practically the lightest 37s you can get on my rig. -- with 5:13s. I 4wheel a lot on hard trails, and I have not had any problems - 40K miles total, 20K miles on the 37s, lift, & the 5:13s.
Also, I have felt zero difference in braking capabilities. I have not perceived any change at all with braking with the 37s.

i got them tested 35 vs 37 with same weight.
35x12.5x17 General Grabber X3 MT
37x12.5x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers hybrid
35 MT 37 hybrid both 79lb
when mounted on wheels 35=112lb 37=116lb
height difference unmounted offa jeep abt 2”
i couldn’t not tell any difference on performance.
Both are same sluggish vs factory 33s.
Both likes to stay in 7th gear most of the time unless supper flat or going down hill.
So all in all i like 37 hybrid over 35 MT. & less noisy. with 4:10 gears it is good enough for normal driving and light trails, regearing in near future should should be better.
