Why not put it under the seat or something? Mine is under the rear passenger side seat and power and antennas all terminate there. The mic which has all the controls on can go anywhere. Just get you a Ethernet CAT6 cable and you can extend the mic anywhere you want.

I was considering this, but the power wire is so short. Any idea what gauge I would need to get to extend it?

I would say you would be fine with 8-10 ga wire. I would probably go with 8 ga. Personally I ran 4 ga wire to that spot as I'm powering two radios but granted I won't be broadcasting on both simultaneously. The thicker the wire, the less voltage drop you'll have to that location. I ran from the battery down and on top the frame, and came up through the drain plug under the rear seat pass side. Easy peasy.

I would not waste glove box space on that, put it under a seat or tuck up under the dash somewhere. If you have AUX power switches the power cables are under the dash below or behind the glove box. If it goes under a seat or even under the rear seats you can poke a hole in the carpet and run a steel fish tape under the carpet to up under the dash and pull a power wire. 12ga should be way more than adequate for the 5-8 amps that radio probably uses. 10ga would be better but probably overkill.
