"Factory Parts" don't mean a thing unfortunately. There's replacement warranty parts and parts that may be original on other vehicles but just because 4.88 gears come as original equipment in the XR Wrangler doesn't mean they're not aftermarket for a Gladiator. So, factory parts installed by a Jeep dealer that MAY be blamed for causing another problem with my Jeep (like sensor issues, transmission issues, etc) may be up to the local dealer where ever I may be at when /if I have a problem?
Technically yes, but again, gears causing transmission issues? Unlikely they could make that connection as to it being the cause or even putting undue stress. The more likely case is sensor and axle shafts. So, factory parts installed by a Jeep dealer that MAY be blamed for causing another problem with my Jeep (like sensor issues, transmission issues, etc) may be up to the local dealer where ever I may be at when /if I have a problem?
Mine told me it would void that part of the warranty pertaining to the axles and diffs, but not the rest of the vehicle. I find that ironic given that Jeep pushes their performance parts line including the Dana 4.88 gears and they are available on Wranglers.I have a 2021 JTR with just over 7,000 miles. Because I routinely carry around 800 lbs in the vehicle and pull a trailer (<3,000 lbs total trailer weight), I’m considering having a Jeep dealer install factory 4.88 gears. I have been told by one dealer tell me that they would not perform that work because it would “void your warranty “. Another dealer is telling me that they could do the work for approximately $2,500 and it would not impact my warranty. Does anyone have any insight to this situation?
