I went back to a Wrangler a few years ago, but I have a question if you guys don't mind - when I went back to a Wrangler I bought a blank pallet and have been building it up. I bought a set of Gladiator Rubicon take offs from a guy on here that happen to be local to me. For $600 I got about 45k out of the tires and the wheels to boot. Very good deal for me I thought.
I also bought his spare. It's the steel generic that goes underneath the Gladiator bed. I have went to 35s but the 35s I went with are 10lb per tire lighter than the 33" Falken Wildpeaks. I have upgraded the hinges on my tailgate but am I right in assuming I'll shave quite a bit of weight on my Wrangler tailgate if I buy another wheel that matches the Rubicon wheels as opposed to running the generic steel spare? In my mind that steel wheel has to be quite a bit heavier than the four on the road.
Or is the weight not much different?
I just got back from a 3 day wheeling trip and discovered my gas storage was inadequate. So I'm thinking storing some gas in the spare area but I feel I need to shave some weight off that spare to feel comfortable.
