So annoyed the dealer put holes to screw in my plate, I decided to make the best of it and do the job that Jeep should (and used) to do...

I bought the rear bumper license plate "spacer" bracket: Mopar 68465407AA
Went to NAPA auto and got a baggie of rivets: Balkamp 665-2882

I used a 3/16 drill bit to drill a hole in the license plate bracket to allow the factory license plate screw to go all the way through, 3/16 the small enough to not mar up the screw hole, simply poke a whole through it. Also, The length of the factory screw is enough to screw completely through the bracket and into the bumper.

With the bracket screwed onto the rear bumper (luckily the dealer perfectly aligned the screw holes, I think there are re molded dimples or marks, but still room for error) I had template to screw holes for the rivets. Aluminum rivets are how the factory mounted the bracket. I again used the 3/16 drill but and made the holes with the bracket in place.

Finally, I used the new aluminum rivets from NAPA to rivet the bracket down.

I am happy, my OCD is happy, and the rivets look EXACTLY like the factory ones used on the older gladiators. (I had 3 gladiators, two came without brackets, but last jeep i bought a Rubicon bumper with the bracket)

Anyways, there ya go... enjoy.

Ill add with this method, you not only have the riveted bracket but also standard license plate screws engage the plate, bracket and bumper... If this bracket from the factory would last a lifetime, then this way will last two.
